Yoga Instructor: Subhadra (Katie) is a 500 hour RYT. She studied under her beloved guru Yogrishi Vishvketu in Rishikesh, India and was trained in the Akhanda (holistic) lineage. Each class is inspired by the many facets of yogic wisdom tradition; asana, pranayama, chanting, visualization and meditation and incorporates an undertone of playfulness and fun. Through a deep love of yogic philosophy and history she truly believes that everything we experience on the mat is a metaphor and a practice for how we can better live off our mat.
“The beauty of yoga is that each time we step into it’s essence we are presented with a moment of truth and honesty. Staying within that truth and honesty, no matter how comfortable or uncomfortable, allows us the opportunity to learn, grow and ultimately know our true selves. And as my guru always says our true nature is fearless, playful, blissful and expansive.”
Massage Instructors: Jamie Taylor and Christina Pyktel of Longevity Massage in Manzanita
Jamie (Ehrke) Taylor, LMT studied massage at East West College in 2006, commuting from the coast to Portland for her studies. She always knew she wanted to heal and she always loved working with her body. Massage was the perfect fit.
As a massage therapist, Jamie’s style is intuitive, graceful and elegant. Her massage is a therapeutic dance for your body. She can work deeply or lightly or anywhere in-between depending on what works for you, the client.
“I am simply the channel through which you are reintroduced to your body. I remind your body, and along with your body comes your spirit, of its natural state of being – at rest, peaceful.”
Christina Pyktel, LMT completed a massage certification while living in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2004 at Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College.
Christina’s style is deep, patient and nurturing. She enjoys incorporating therapeutic massage with aromatherapy and hot stones. One of her favorite offerings is the Ayurveda massage. This ancient practice uses warm oil “medicated” with essential oils. The strokes are long and rhythmic, thus inviting the nervous system to re-charge and the body to gently detox.
Christina currently practices massage on the coast at Longevity in Manzanita and in SW Portland at Om Base Yoga. She welcomes new clients at both locations where she will be happy to provide a personalized whole body program.
